YIT Lietuva will take care of the streets of Vilnius for three years - the value of the works will reach up to 20 million. euros

The sustainable urban and infrastructure development company YIT Lietuva has signed two agreements with Vilnius City Municipality, according to which the company has been entrusted with the repair and maintenance of streets in the northern and southern parts of the capital. Their maximum value will reach 20 million. EUR excluding VAT.

Street maintenance contracts have been signed for a period of 36 months. Asphalt pavements will be renewed during the repair works in accordance with today's technical requirements, and defects in the sections of streets, sidewalks, bicycle paths and other city pavements will be eliminated.

“Timely quality maintenance of the streets, their modernization and renewal of the road surface are extremely important for safe and convenient transportation in the city. At the same time, consistent street maintenance has a major impact on improving the quality of life in the city and reducing the environmental impact of transport. A modern city must have the transport infrastructure that meets today’s needs. The long-term experience of our company and the applied advanced technologies will ensure prompt and high-quality repair of streets, sidewalks, bicycle paths and other surfaces - says Kęstutis Vanagas, the head of the company YIT Lietuva.

In order to minimize the inconvenience to city residents due to street repairs, some of the work will be done during the dark hours of the day. If necessary, traffic will also be diverted to other streets. In cases where larger-scale technologically complex works are planned, including the renovation of engineering networks and aspects of street humanisation, the projects of works will be prepared individually according to the task formed by the customer. Reconstruction of streets and road works will aim to preserve all existing vegetation.

According to the Sustainable Mobility Plan approved by Vilnius City Municipality until 2030, various measures continue to be taken to reduce the negative consequences of cars: noise and pollution indicators, and to increase safety in urban areas. For this purpose, bicycle paths are being built and maintained, great attention is paid to the greening of transport and the distribution of its flows, and the management of freight logistics.

YIT Lietuva recently signed a LTL 6 million agreement with Vilnius City Municipality. According to the agreement, it is planned to arrange the sections of the capital Lentvario Street 1650 meters, Vaduvos Street 650 meters and Gerosios Vilties Street 700 meters.
