Construction of Onninen logistics center entrusted to YIT Lietuva

Sustainable urban and infrastructure development company YIT Lietuva will soon begin construction of a modern logistics center for the company Onninen in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone, in the village of Ramučiai. Almost 7 thousand sq. m of storage and administrative premises are planned to be built and equipped by September of this year. The estimated value of the works is 8.6 million euros including VAT.

The logistics center of Onninen, a company engaged in wholesale trade of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, industrial, lighting and electronic equipment, will be built on a plot of almost 59 thousand sq. m. on Gamybos Street near Karmėlava. The majority of the complex will consist of single-story storage facilities adapted for the use of a bridge crane. Administrative premises of approximately 400 sq. m will also be installed. The A++ energy efficiency class building was designed by the design studio of architect Šarūnas Kiaunė.

"The construction of this logistics center is not the first project through which we contribute to the development of the Kaunas FEZ, and at the same time to the economic growth of this region and the entire country." The high demands and attention to quality set by the customer are close to our operating principles. In addition, we have accumulated a lot of experience in the construction of similar types of objects. "We implemented the first building for Onninen in Kaunas back in 2005, so we have no doubt about the success of this project," says Kęstutis Vanagas, CEO of YIT Lietuva.

An asphalt area will be installed next to the warehouses for maneuvering freight vehicles and outdoor storage of goods. There is space for garbage containers nearby. A 35-space parking lot with an electric car charging station and ports for new stations, which can be installed in the future as needed, has also been designed near the complex. The territory features modern lighting solutions, video surveillance cameras, and greenery.

"We plan that a logistics center of this size will require 20 qualified warehouse employees." This way, we can ensure that the heating, plumbing, ventilation and air conditioning equipment sold by Onninen, as well as electrical engineering and components for solar power plants and electric vehicle charging stations, will be stored and unloaded professionally and with high quality. Our decision to open a new innovative Onninen logistics center in Kaunas was determined by the concern's growth and business development strategy and the company's main vision - to be the number one choice for our customers and partners in the building materials trade market.

We entrusted the project management and technical maintenance to the company "Incorpus", and the advanced electronic construction work log "Logbox" will be used in the construction process, - says Arvydas Salietis, General Director of UAB Onninen.
